DALE Quinn and Rod Wilson return leg of their Kiss Goodbye to MS jetski challenge of  Bass Strait is on track after they reached Port Albert in Victoria this morning.

Mr Quinn and fellow jetski driver Rod Wilson spent last night on Deal Island after conditions became rough in Bass Strait yesterday.

The two jetskis left Musselroe Bay, in the state’s north-east, at dawn planning to island hop to Victoria and return to Tasmania.

The Launceston electrician told supporters at Port Albert the leg from Deal Island to Port Albert had been good.

“(It was) good compared to yesterday, it was fantastic. Once we got over the barway towards Port Albert, the water was like glass, it was great.

“We’re thinking about staying here tonight and getting back on the skis early in the morning,  get back to Deal Island,  stay there tomorrow night.”

Mr Quinn said they would do the last 200ks to Tasmania on Thursday morning.

If the pair are able to complete a double crossing of Bass Strait it is understood they will become the first jetski drivers to achieve the feat.

Mr Quinn said the team enjoyed its time on remote Deal Island last night.

“The caretakers came down and picked us up and took us up to the houses and showed us around at bit.”

“We want to spend a bit of time there on the way home.”

The jet skis are equipped with extra fuel, food and camping equipment as well as GPS and radios.

The challenge is raising money for the Kiss Goodbye to MS charity, a branch of MS Research Australia.
